Before & After

Weee , finally! My little studio is finished!:)

I have a larger studio at the main house, but we had an additional "woodworking department" attached to the "shed", so I dreamt that I would set up a ceramic studio to that space:) BUT as things have evolved over the 2-3 years, the space is now being shared with stained glass materials and equipment, silversmithing thingies with a soldering area, glass fusing bits and bob, porcelain painting and pots of various ceramic clays:) I'm missing couple of larger machines like (mini) drill press, polishing tumbler for silver and a perfect tree stump for forging:)

Anyhow, this is how the room looked before. Lots of random stuff, bits of left over wood scattered about:( Work table which has recycled legs from my first ever kitchen table, but I thought the table wasn't high enough for ergonomic working so it had to go.

.. And this pic was taken today. All the things are still searching for their own space hence the clutter, but there's a nice, large enough worktop, enough floor space and proper storage units:)

The cabinets are recycled from the in- law's refurbished sauna/toilet, mini shelving, table top and the table's trestle leg are from Ikea. The "leg" was originally purchased for our Funky Homo sapiens Boutique's cash desk, but it was too wide. Lucky accident:) I have the same legs in my studio too, attached to my cutting table, they're so pretty me thinks:)

I don't like the wooden coloured walls and the ceiling, but I couldn't find a perfect shade of turquoise for the accent wall that I wanted, so it'll have to wait. At least the wood is quite light, fresh and clean, and bringing good light in.

The funny vintage rose printed netting was left behind by the previous owner:) The light turquoise table top is turned upside down (white on the other side) and is recycled from my parent's refurbished kitchen, as is the metal "shelving"/rack hanging on the wall (from drying cabinet).

I found a lovely little hand-held vacuum cleaner yesterday, but it needs to be charged for at least 16hours, so I do apologise for the dirty floor. Also the hideous dark blue carpets left behind by the previous owners will be changed for something more light and colourful/pretty:)

Double Weeee! Finally a PINK tool kit for my ever expanding silversmithing materials:) An end of a solid two- year search attempt. I found a nice and professional one from US (not ladies rubbish "play tool" ones), but the (only) retailer refused to ship to Finland:( So I scored this one by accident last night from a local hardware store, on sale for 11euros; an absolute Bargain! Also note my PINK ear protectors on the pic above (right top corner):) Pink isn't necessarily my favourite colour as such, although I do like it's perkiness, childish and cheery qualities:) So I thought if I ought to have generally masculine considered tools I might as well have fun.

Hot plate that I wished from Santa (= kid brother) for citric acid
+ soldering tray and heat resistant wall. The orange suitcase, bottom right corner, was given to me as a birthday present from my grandparents in April (Thank you!):) It's filled with great quality tools, hand drill and the whole handy lot. Very nice indeed + the girlish yummy colour is a definite bonus:)

My new little turquoise 50's inspired radio so I don't have to drag my laptop around:) Excellent sound quality for such a tiny and a cheap thing:)
